SOME MORE THINGS THAT MAKE CATW UNIQUE IN EUROPE…
LEARN, DISCOVER & PERFORM IN GREECE
We conduct Ancient History, Archaeology, Arts, Architecture, Performing Arts (for dance, music and choral groups), and cultural programs and tours in Greece and the Mediterranean region.
Aside from being one of CATW’s most visited and affordable destinations, Greece is not only fascinating for its historical landmarks and history, but also for its idyllic relaxing islands which make it a must-see destination.
DISCOVER LIVING HISTORY LESSONS IN GREECE
Visit and survey in company with ancient Greece historians, the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic sites in mainland Greece and the Minoan civilisation of Crete, including The Argolis, Mycenae, Olympia, Delphi, Thermopylae, Knossos and Santorini.
For Australians, a pilgrimage visit to Gallipolli, Turkey can be added onto your tour of Greece for little extra cost.
MUSIC AND EUROPE GO HAND IN HAND
Discover the birthplace of Western Art, Music and Culture as we know it today. With all of its beauty, history and languages Europe is the perfect destination for your next CATW music or performing arts tour. For 25 years we have been accompanying school groups and ensembles to Europe; and with this experience we can tailor-make an itinerary that is both educational, inspiring and filled with the perfect balance of performance opportunities, sightseeing activities and brilliant workshops.
Stand on the spot where Mozart played for the first time. Then take in the beautiful sights and rich musical history that Austria is known for. View Paris‘s modern architectural wonders, The Eiffel Tower and The Louvre, which houses one of the world’s most famous collections of art (including the Mona Lisa). Contrast these icons against the impressive Arc de Triomph and the lively Moulin Rouge and you have a music lover’s paradise. Your group will understand how Paris’s love of art and architecture in all its forms inspired the country’s great composers.
Then there is Italy with its deep history. Imagine gazing upon the Colosseum and Roman Forum, visiting the marvelous Sistine Chapel then enjoying a Piazza Concert featuring one of the country’s leading musical identities. Groups will also have the opportunity to perform in front of a captive audience.
EUROPE’S MUSIC FESTIVALS
Music and Europe have been married for centuries and the celebrations and festivals of music on this continent are vast and offer a great many opportunities for your music ensemble or orchestra to perform. The MidEurope Wind Band Festival in Austria; the International Youth Music Festival in Bratislava; the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland; the International Cantus Choir and Orchestra Festival in Salzburg; Italy’s Florence Youth Orchestra Festival; or the Aberdeen International Youth Festival in North East Scotland, and the Brass Bohemia Festival in Prague are but a few of our favourites that we have taken groups to in the past. Although, the Edinburgh Jazz Festival in Scotland is our personal favourite!
For a Choir, the Stephen’s Choir festival in Vienna; the Ghent Festival in Belgium; the International Krakow Choir Festival in Poland and the Prague Choir Festival are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
Other awe-inspiring venues you may like to consider performing at are The Votiv Kirsche, Mirabell Gardens and Schönbrunn Palace in Austria; Notre Dame in Paris; Chillon Castle in Switzerland and The San Giovanni Elemosinario in Venice. And if you’re really lucky, Westminster Abbey in London is a lifetime achievement!
Couple these amazing performance experiences with our workshop opportunities and sightseeing and you have a CATW tour that you won’t ever forget.
